What we know, what we do not, and who should answer next.

Piercings.how prepares people for professional conversations. It does not perform anatomy assessments, provide medical diagnosis, or teach self-piercing.

About

An independent preparation layer.

Piercings.how helps adults explore ideas, understand practical tradeoffs, prepare questions, and choose the right next professional. It is designed to remain useful even when no commercial recommendation is present.

Editorial method

General guidance stays general.

  • Professional piercing organizations are prioritized for studio, jewelry, aftercare, and piercing-practice guidance.
  • Government and qualified medical sources are prioritized for infection symptoms and medical escalation.
  • Healing language emphasizes variation and avoids universal promises or pain scores.
  • Generated illustrations establish an editorial visual world. They are not clinical evidence or proof of anatomy suitability.
  • Documentary photography is not replaced with generated anatomy. Sensitive subjects remain covered when final photography still requires commissioning.
  • Mutable facts, provider status, standards, and commercial relationships require dated review.

Photography and illustration

Every image needs a job and a truthful label.

  • Documentary photographs must have clear provenance, usage rights, and verified adult consent for intimate anatomy.
  • Explicit adult educational visuals remain behind a user-controlled reveal and are not exposed in cards, navigation, or search previews.
  • Generated and artistic images are labeled as editorial illustration when the distinction matters.
  • No photograph or illustration is reused across unrelated routes. Crops of one source still count as the same visual.
  • Captions identify whether an image is illustrative, documentary, fresh, healing, or healed.
  • The private review build records unsolved photography needs rather than faking clinical documentation.

Jewelry inclusion rubric

A commission cannot repair missing specifications.

A future product or merchant must pass editorial checks before commercial fit is considered.

  • Exact, verifiable material composition and applicable specification
  • Smooth wearable surface and documented manufacturing or polishing quality
  • Threadless or internally threaded construction where appropriate
  • Accurate gauge, diameter, wearable length, rise, and size-option data
  • Clear distinction between initial and fully healed use
  • Country, shipping, return, exchange, and sizing-support information
  • Transparent product photography and descriptions
  • Professional reputation that can be independently checked

The APP Body Jewelry Verification Program is a useful manufacturer-level signal, not an automatic endorsement of every product, merchant, or fit.

Corrections

Substantive changes should be visible.

During private review, corrections are handled through the Site review conversation. Before public launch, Piercings.how will add a working public correction channel and a dated change record for consequential guidance.

Commercial policy

Payment cannot rewrite the safety standard.

This private version has no affiliate links, paid placements, sponsored studios, lead forms, or booking relationships. Candidate affiliate programs remain an operational research list until current terms, acceptance, product evidence, geography, inventory, and disclosure support are directly verified.

  • Future material connections will be disclosed where the recommendation appears.
  • Organic studio criteria will remain independent of payment.
  • Sponsored placement will be visibly labeled and separated from organic results.
  • Jewelry inclusion will require documented quality criteria before commercial fit.
  • A complete free path through planning, safety, and studio evaluation will remain available.
  • Affiliate disclosures will appear beside the recommendation rather than only in a footer or policy page.
  • Unavailable or rejected commercial products will never remove the educational specification.

The planner stays on your device.

The current planner uses browser-local storage so a visitor can return to an unfinished plan. It creates no account and sends no planner answers to Piercings.how. Clearing Site data or using the planner reset removes the saved answers.
